The evolution of electric boats has taken a giant step in recent years, with the emergence of a range of new models on the market that are competing with conventional boats powered by fossil fuels. And, after the progressive expansion of electric cars, maritime electromobility is among the next great challenges to achieve global sustainable transport.

The new boat named R30 arrives to transform the nautical industry, in the same way that the appearance of Tesla gave a turn to the zero-emission automotive panorama. The person responsible for this new alternative is precisely a former senior executive in the production department of Elon Musk’s company, whose name is John Vo and who decided to change cars for boats to chart new horizons in the nautical field.

The first proposal from Blue Innovations Group (BIG), the company founded by Vo, incorporates the latest in technology and works with a dual-motor configuration inspired by Tesla cars. It is a fully electric luxury boat with a length of 9.14 meters and a width of 3 meters, with capacity for up to twelve passengers.

The objective of this boat is, in Vo’s own words, “to combine elegance, performance and sustainability” and “to provide the best possible sailing experience for customers, with maximum safety and at the same time being respectful of the environment.”

This is a boat with a partially closed cabin. It has a solar roof and two additional sliding panels that triple the total surface area dedicated to capturing the greatest possible amount of energy from the sun.

The R30 comes equipped with two independent 298 kW electric motors, generating a total of 596 kW or 800 HP of power. With this configuration, a maximum speed of 39 knots (72 km/h) is expected.

The two motors that drive the boat are powered by a 221 kWh battery, which promises a range of up to eight hours on a single charge. It comes with support for DC fast charging that allows you to recharge 80% of its capacity in just 45 minutes.

Designed for long sea voyages, the R30 features an air-conditioned cabin, a classic dinette with plenty of space to relax (with the ability to transform into a comfortable bedroom with a bed at night), a kitchenette with refrigerator and a bathroom with toilet. and sinks.

The command post incorporates a modern dual touch screen with a sophisticated information system referring to the main data of the ship. Other highlights include the various storage areas and a safe to store valuables when disembarking.

As for the outdoor spaces, in the bow you can enjoy a terrace for sunbathing. At the stern, a trio of folding panels generates a swimming area also ideal for stretching and relaxing. This electric boat will be priced around 285,000 euros and deliveries are expected to begin from the third quarter of 2024.

The official presentation will take place this coming December. In the following video, you can see a preview of this new electric boat with technology based on Tesla cars.
