There are currently eleven automobile factories operating in Spain belonging to the Renault, Volkswagen, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Iveco and Stellantis groups. During 2022, they manufactured a total of just over 2.2 million units, which represents an increase of 5.6% compared to the previous year. One of these production plants is located in the Palencia municipality of Villamuriel de Cerrato. There, Renault manufactures the Austral (substitute for the Kadjar) and has announced that the new Espace will also come out of these facilities.

Little has transpired about what the sixth generation of this model will be like, whose worldwide presentation will take place on March 28. The firm of the rhombus has been providing information with droppers to warm up the engines for the great debut of the car. What seems clear is that it completely abandons the minivan features to fully enter the SUV segment. The brand had already begun to take this path with the current generation, which was already a crossover type, that is, a mixture of styles.

At the dimension level, it will be a little smaller. Its length will remain at 4.72 meters, that is, it will be shortened by about 14 centimeters compared to its predecessor. Despite this, Renault ensures that it will have a more habitable interior, with a configuration of 5 or seven seats. To increase the feeling of space, he will mount a huge panoramic glass roof with an area of ??more than one square meter (it measures 133 centimeters long and 84 cm wide).

Although we will have to wait for the next world presentation of the car to see it in detail, from the images provided to date we can say that it will have an athletic design, with marked shoulders. The rear part sports a roof spoiler that increases the dynamism of the rear.

It is likely that the driving position inherits the structure and appearance already seen in its smaller brother, the Austral. Thus, it will equip the double screen that combines that of the digital instrument panel and the center of the OpenR Link multimedia system to jointly form an inverted “L”.

Likewise, in the video that Renault has shared on Twitter it seems to be the peculiar palm rest that mounts the automatic versions of the Austral. It is an element, located in the central console between the front seats, which allows more comfortable control of the multimedia screen or the “piano” type function keys located below.

Also built on the CMF-CD platform, the Espace will have a mechanical range that, like its little brother, will include at least one E-TECH non-plug-in hybrid version.

Renault has awarded the manufacture of this model at the Palencia plant within the 4th Industrial Plan, Renaulution Spain. This factory is full of innovations aimed at ensuring high quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. In fact, this plant is a reference in Manufacturing 4.0, combining advanced production techniques and operations with intelligent technologies such as robotics, analytics, artificial intelligence or the Internet of Things.
