In the world of navigation, sometimes you see proposals capable of surprising in many aspects, but some of them seem to exceed everything imaginable. That is, without a doubt, the case of the stratospheric M5, considered the first luxury underwater megayacht in the world and which very few will be able to afford.
Designed by the Austrian firm Migaloo, it is a true giant of the waters packed with levels of equipment and comfort that are not even found in most of the most impressive superyachts on the planet. Unlike other cases, it is not just a superyacht with a submarine inside, but a megayacht that becomes a submarine itself.
In addition, it includes two small submarines inside that can be operated remotely, as well as helicopters, drones, cars and even a hot air balloon to enjoy calm, aerial views of paradisiacal places. As stated by Migaloo, it is aimed at visionary billionaires who have extraordinary demands for exclusivity, security, adventure or experiences.
The M5 has an overall length of 166 m, a beam of 23 m and a draft of 8.6 m. Its autonomy is estimated at about 15,000 kilometers with hybrid propulsion and the ability to spend up to four weeks submerged. The maximum speed of the megayacht is 20 knots (37 km/h) sailing on the surface of the water and 12 knots (22 km/h) submerged.
The M5 can reach a depth of up to 250 m and offers capacity for between 14 and 20 guests, plus a crew of up to 40 people. The countless amenities range from its own wine cellar to a dining room surrounded by glass areas so that guests can enjoy spectacular panoramic underwater views during lunches.
The megayacht also incorporates two swimming pools, a jacuzzi, a private cinema and an extendable bathing area for when the vessel is on the surface and the occupants want to swim relaxed or sunbathe. Among the materials used for the different rooms are marble and noble woods. We must not overlook the omnipresent decorative lighting and the presence of top-level furniture.
The M5 has a heliport on the aft deck, as well as four smaller vessels (apart from the aforementioned submarines). Among the cars present there are various SUVs and pick-ups designed to explore the different destinations visited during the journeys, already on dry land.
Everything reviewed reaches such an extremely high cost that only a few people can afford it. And the Migaloo M5 costs nothing more and nothing less than 1.8 billion euros. This is a figure that escapes the vast majority of mortals but that some people have and can use to enjoy truly unbeatable trips.
