The figures of the BMW M4 CS say it all: 550 HP, a top speed of 302 km/h and a price of almost 200,000 euros

It will have a price close to 200,000 euros, with performance and behavior typical of a racing car, but with four seats. And it’s not electric.

It is not that BMW has decided to abandon its obligations to the European Union, with the decisions taken in Brussels on electrification. It happens that it is a brand very committed to sports motorsports and that does not want to stop manufacturing cars, for a minority of customers, created to drive. Or, directly, to pilot.

As a limited series, the new M4 CS is placed between the M4 Competition Coupé M xDrive and the special edition of the M4 CSL Coupé (1,000 units). And it is another example of the ability of BMW M GmbH (the special department) to create authentic mechanical jewels for a very demanding public accustomed to enjoying their car on a circuit.

The six-cylinder in-line gasoline engine is the same as the M4 CSL Coupé, with three liters of displacement, two turbos and 550 HP. It is the basis of the engine of the BMW M4 GT3, which won the DTM touring car title in 2022 and followed up in 2023 with outright victories in the Spa-Francorchamps and Dubai 24-hour races.

With this prodigious engine, the new BMW M4 CS goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.1 seconds. Proof of its high capacity is also the ease of recovery from 80 to 120 km/h, which is done in 2.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h. Big words.

The technological cocktail is completed with four-wheel drive (M xDrive), the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and the active M differential.

M Compound brakes with red or black calipers are standard, but BMW offers M carbon ceramics that better fit the philosophy of this sports car. And you can choose the color of the tweezers in red or matte gold.

Customers have the new BMW Individual special paint finishes Riviera Blue and Frozen Isle of Man Green Metallic. It also has exposed carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) surfaces for the roof and the slits in the hood, a material also used in the front splitter, the air intakes, the exterior mirror housings and the spoiler. and the rear apron.

The use of light materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic allows the weight to be reduced by 20 kg compared to the M4 Competition. We must also add exclusive 19-inch wheels on the front and 20-inch wheels on the rear. The V-spoke design is very attractive and can be mounted in bronze or matte black.

The cabin of the exclusive M4 CS is designed to offer a highly stimulating driving experience. High quality materials, along with a design that recreates a competition atmosphere, but at the same time serves for daily use.

Highlights include the three-spoke Alcantara steering wheel, the CFRP material shift paddles and the standard M carbon seats. It also has the latest generation of the iDrive system to intuitively control numerous car functions and digital services.

On the other hand, the BMW Curved Display features M-specific displays and is oriented towards the driver, helping the driver concentrate on the road. The digital instrument panel located behind the steering wheel is 12.3 inches, while the control screen has a diagonal of 14.9 inches.

Born for the track, the new M4 CS features the M Drive Professional system. Thus, the driver has functions aimed at using the car on the track. For example, the M Drift Analyzer mode evaluates and records cornering drifts, and the M Laptimer provides lap data and allows drivers to share the information with other users.

And M Traction Control, with 10 levels of adjustment, helps drivers experience track driving at a certainly higher level.

BMW has not yet given official information on the price or the units destined for our market. Although it is not difficult to think, seeing what its range siblings are worth, that its price could be close to 200,000 euros.
