Tesla wants to compete with the fastest cars on the market. The brand led by Elon Musk is convinced that its Tesla Model Y Performance is unrivaled when it reaches its top speed. And it is not the first time that he has boasted that his electric car company has nothing to envy of older vehicles.
The head of engineering for Ford’s Mustang Mach-E, Donna Dickson, does not share that idea, who published an open letter this Tuesday on Ford’s website in which she states that the new model she directs “is faster than both the Tesla Model Y Performance like the Porsche Macan 4 Electric.”
According to the person in charge, the model manages to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, in addition to reaching the quarter mile (0.4 km) in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph (183.4 km). /h).
“Our 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT with the ‘Performance Upgrade’ of the Mustang Mach-E GT truly is the fastest Mustang Mach-E to date,” the engineer indicates in her letter.
Additionally, Dickson explains that this performance upgrade combines innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms, plus a new internal electric motor that helps provide improved torque, with an additional 100 pound-feet (lb.ft) compared to conventional vehicles. which do not have this performance improvement.
Dickson also notes that the performance upgrade comes standard on the Mustang Mach-E Rally version and is an available upgrade for the Mustang Mach-E GT.
Mustang maintains that its vehicle will also be competitive economically. The cheapest starting price of this SUV with a standard range battery, rear-wheel drive is sold in the US from $39,995 (36,831 euros).
