Design, innovation and a lot of glamor came together at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid to celebrate the official launch of Omoda, the new automobile brand from China. The massive event brought together more than 300 people at the Cibeles Palace, with the presence of senior representatives of Omoda and the Chery Group, an automobile giant present in 40 markets around the world, to which the brand belongs.

The event was attended by Shawn Xu, CEO of Omoda and Jaecoo, and Danny Xia, Deputy Director of Omoda and Jaecoo. Both pointed out Spain as a perfect country to start their European expansion plans where Omoda’s values ??of design, technology and respect for the environment fit in.

The Spanish actor and singer Jaime Lorente was present at the event, chosen as the brand’s new ambassador and who had a special role. The performer became especially famous for his role as Denver in the famous Netflix series La Casa de Papel. The Murcian actor was captivated by the Omoda 5 because “it is beautiful, it has incredible technology, it is very comfortable to drive and on top of that, it is very safe.”

Elegant, futuristic and technological, the Omoda 5 is powered by a 1.6 turbo direct injection gasoline engine that develops a power of 185 HP and maximum torque of 290 Nm, associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is available in two trim levels, Comfort (27,900 euros) and Premium (29,900 euros), the latter with metallic paint included for a limited time. The color range offer includes four monochrome colors and three two-tone colors.

The Omoda E5, the 100% electric variant of the model, equipped with a 150 kW motor and a 61 kWh capacity battery, will also soon hit the market. A WLTP range of 430 km is announced. In all cases, the Omoda sold in Spain have a seven-year warranty or 150,000 km. At the end of the year it will be the turn of a new model, the Omoda 9, a larger SUV.

Both models have obtained five EuroNcap stars, the highest safety rating. They share a body made of 78% ultra-resistant steel and, as standard, they have many driving assistance systems (ADAS).

Belonging to the powerful Chery Automobiles group, Omoda is a young brand born in April 2023 that has the crossover concept engraved deep in its DNA, whose objective is to redefine the concept of motorsport with models equipped with cutting-edge technology and futuristic design to create works of art in motion. The creation of a community of Omoda users, a community of like-minded people, will allow you to experience new sensations and experiences together with the brand.

The Spanish subsidiary, Omoda Spain, is deploying a wide official sales and after-sales network made up of 28 dealer groups and the goal at the end of the year is to have 65. The commitment to sustainability is another of the basic points of Omoda’s DNA , along with design and technology. In this sense, collaboration agreements have been announced with two NGOs, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Reforest Project.
