In just two years, China has emerged as a leader in global electromobility, accumulating more than 60% of sales of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles worldwide. The success that the new emerging brands from that country are having in Europe and the United States lies in the great interior quality and equipment they offer at a lower price than any European equivalent.
One of the latest developments to come from the Asian giant has just been presented by the young brand Skywell with its ultra-futuristic car Skyhome, an elegant sedan with sinuous curves that looks like a cinema on wheels.
Its exterior design features an LED strip that extends along the entire front and connects the headlights to each other. At the rear we find a similar aesthetic, with a red light strip and several LED segments below it. It has a panoramic glass roof and has reverse opening doors.
The car’s aerodynamics not only benefits from digital side mirrors and camouflaged door handles, but it also has a dynamic body that adapts to the circumstances. For example, the spoilers can be slid rearward during driving to reduce drag by 3%. Or, conversely, tilt up in adverse weather conditions to increase resistance by 5%.
As for the cabin, the Skyhome incorporates high technology, with a curved screen that brings together the digital dashboard, the infotainment system and a small television for the front passenger. The driving space is ergonomic and generous, and features an original yoke-type steering wheel.
Passengers in the back of the vehicle have their own on-board entertainment room, with a refrigerator located in the center console and reclining seats that adapt to a sleeping position and have a massage function. In this area we find a giant, flexible screen that slides down from the inside of the ceiling. There are also other screens located in the headrests of the front seats, while there are folding tables in the backrests.
According to the brand itself, the on-board system can listen, speak, see, recognize, understand and think, and even offer emotional support. It also integrates a smart contactless vital signs monitoring function that can identify health risks at early stages.
The sedan has all-wheel drive and is powered by two electric motors, which together deliver 617 HP of power for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The model will also be available with front-wheel drive, the latter powered by a single electric motor. Air suspension and rear axle steering are also listed as options.
The future production model will go on sale for less than 30,000 euros on a date yet to be determined. In the video that accompanies this news you can see the official presentation that the firm made a few weeks ago of its new Skyhome.
