The camper phenomenon is inextricably linked to the hippie movement, which took the liberty of giving the Volkswagen T1 commercial vehicle a second life. From that small van, campers with their own personality emerged, which ended up convincing the brand to create its California. That myth called Bulli is the one that inspires the design and philosophy of the new Volkswagen ID.Buzz, a reinterpretation that already has a camper version.

The German firm has not yet revealed a “mobile home” variant of its latest electric model, but the preparations have not been long in coming. One of them has drawn special attention and was even present during the dynamic test of the ID.Buzz in Copenhagen, carried out a few months ago. We are talking about the Ququq module, easy to install and adventure-proof practicality.

Volkswagen’s ID family refers to its 100% electric variants, developed and designed as such from the start. The ID.Buzz is, therefore, a completely new van that is powered by a 150 kW (204 CV) block and has an approved range of 417 kilometers.

It measures 4.71 meters long by 1.98 m wide and 1.92 m high and, despite its compact size, the wheelbase is 2.98 meters. This battle grants a spacious passenger compartment and very practical in its cargo version, with 1,121 liters of trunk capacity expandable up to 2,123.

The Ququq module called BusBox-4 has won the affection of the camper segment for its practicality and simplicity. It is a removable piece of furniture that does not require approval for the ITV, therefore it reduces the complication when turning your ID.Buzz into a house on wheels. The price of this multipurpose cabinet is 2,790 euros, which is added to the cost of the electric van of 63,560 euros.

It is a drawer that is installed in the trunk, just behind the rear seats, and that is made on a rigid structure and is divided into three compartments. The left side houses the extractable kitchen, which includes two stoves and drawers necessary for utensils such as pots and pans. In the center there is a space to store objects, cabinet or drawer type, in which to place a portable fridge, and the module on the right hides a 10-liter water tank that you can use as a sink or outdoor shower.

As it is in the shape of a rectangular box, it is the structure itself that becomes a bed surface by folding down the backrests of the rear seats. The action results in a double bed, with a folding mattress 1.95 meters long and 1.25 meters wide. It is somewhat narrow, but two adults can sleep perfectly.
