The workers of Archroma Ibérica, located in El Prat de Llobregat, have started two days of rallies this Wednesday due to the “drip of layoffs that has been occurring for weeks”, according to the CC.OO union. through a statement. Flags of other unions could also be seen at the protest. For its part, the company emphasizes that it is complying with all legal requirements to end its employment relationship with two employees.
The works council of the firm dedicated to the chemical industry has shown its “total rejection” of the loss of jobs and has demanded that the management of the multinational “reinstate the dismissed colleagues.” From CC.OO. They have reported that the workforce has been “reducing lately.”
Archroma currently has 350 employees and has been in El Prat de Llobregat for 50 years, first under the names of Sandoz and then Clariant. It is a well-known industry in this part of the Baix Llobregat region and is positioned as “a world leader in chemical specialties that cover the textile, paper and emulsions sectors.”
Company sources have told La Vanguardia that it ended its employment relationship with two employees of the El Prat plant in response to “objective causes” under the protection of the workers’ statute and “complying with all legal requirements.” The company does not want to go into more details out of “respect for the confidentiality of the process and the privacy of the workers.”
In a text sent to this newspaper, the company ensures that it “continues to be available to the works council and its collaborators” to offer “the information necessary to guarantee the total transparency of this procedure.”
