Traveling in a caravan that can be converted into a boat to sail the open sea is the dream that many families would like to make come true during their vacations this summer. Although the idea of ??an amphibious vehicle may sound futuristic, the market offers the possibility of enjoying a trailer that fulfills the seaworthiness functions required of every vessel.
Turkish startup SealVans has launched two innovative amphibious caravan models that combine the features of a boat and a traditional trailer. After successfully creating a series of prototypes last year, the company has put its caravan versions on sale in the European market.
These are two models of 4.20 m and 7.50 m in length, respectively, that are designed to respond to adventurous families who want to explore both dirt roads and the sea without the hassle of changing between different modes of travel. transport.
The main feature of SealVans models is their versatility. Both can function as a traditional land caravan or as a fully functional boat, depending on the use you want to give it at any given time. Unlike other amphibious vehicles, SealVans transit between land and water without the need to modify the vehicle with complex procedures, as the company itself highlights.
The main difference between the two versions lies in their dimensions and finishes, which depend on the size. The Seal 4.20 m is a compact version that weighs less than 750 kg. It is ideal for two adults and is specifically designed for short trips. SealVans notes that depending on local laws, this amphibious vehicle may not require any special permits to be used on water.
For its part, the Seal 7.50 m is designed as a family vacation vehicle as it has capacity for three adults or a family of two adults and two small children. It resembles a conventional two-axle caravan, but its exterior aesthetics, conical in shape and more aerodynamic than usual, already give clues to its versatility. As if all this were not enough, the windshield and panoramic roof give it an even more peculiar touch if possible.
The amphibious caravan is equipped with a functional kitchen, a compact bathroom with a shower and a horseshoe-shaped lounge with comfortable seating. The vehicle has a main bed and an optional additional bed for greater flexibility. It has a maximum permitted weight of 3,000 kg and an interior height of two meters to provide enough space for its occupants to enjoy their adventures both on land and in water in complete comfort.
SealVans offers propulsion options to suit users’ preferences. You can choose between a 50 HP Honda outboard motor or an electric propulsion system for those looking for a greener alternative.
In any case, both options guarantee a maximum speed of 13 knots (about 24 km/h), which allows you to fully enjoy a 180-degree view provided by the large glass wall that runs along the sides and front of the caravan.
