A Texas criminal managed to escape from a prison facility in Angleton, Texas, where he was serving a 20-year sentence for crimes like burglary and robbery. The escapee, 33-year-old Kidanny Robles, was discovered missing during a routine count at midnight on Sunday by security guards at the Clemens Unit trusty camp. It was found that Robles had walked away from the housing location outside the main prison, which was meant for inmates requiring a lower level of supervision.

Law enforcement officials, along with the Office for the Inspector General, launched a search for Robles and managed to locate him three miles away from the prison facility nearly 10 hours after he went missing. The prison had to cancel all visitations on Sunday as staff members were involved in the search operation.

When ordered to stop by law enforcement officials, Robles refused, leading to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice captain shooting him in the arm. Robles had been serving his sentence for aggravated robbery, robbery, and burglary of a habitat in Bexar County, as well as a 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance in Nueces County from 2022.
