The technological park of Mataró, TecnoCampus, will celebrate next Thursday, July 13, the first Investment Day with the collaboration of EconomistesBan, the network of private investors of the College of Economists of Catalonia.
“For more than 10 years, TecnoCampus has been working to support access to private financing for entrepreneurs in our ecosystem. To meet this objective, we usually hold investment forums, at least once a year”, explains Yolanda Fernàndez Ferré, head of Business Growth at TecnoCampus. And she adds: “This year we decided to do it jointly organized with EconomistesBan with the aim of having a greater impact and making a more complete event.”
For its part, EconomistesBAN, with 11 years of experience holding investment forums, has the mission of creating a business and entrepreneurial space in which resources can be captured for businessmen and entrepreneurs for their projects. Marta Alsinella, director of EconomistesBAN, has highlighted that: “This collaboration represents a further step towards our commitment to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and projects that generate a positive impact on society. From EconomistesBAN we want to help give visibility and support to entrepreneurs who develop innovative, sustainable initiatives and provide guidance and investment to early-stage projects”.
In this year’s Investment Day, in addition to the investment forum, there will be three activities: a Pitch Competition dedicated to university entrepreneurs, a Reverse Pitch in which investment funds will explain their own investment policies and their conditions for accessing financing , and a round table in which successful entrepreneurs will explain how they have obtained private financing and scaled their businesses.
“Our objective with this event is to connect entrepreneurs with investors who are looking for projects with growth potential to invest in,” says Fernàndez.
The fundamental element of this year’s edition is the presentations or “pitches”. The main events will be the Pitch Competition, in which five university projects will participate and the winner will participate in the Creatic awards in the university category, the Reverse Pitch, in which investors from the EconomistesBAN ecosystem will participate and which will be energized by Mr. Pol Font, president of EconomistesBAN.
“The Pitch Competition is a very relevant activity of the event, as it allows entrepreneurs to attract investors and for them to become more interested in their project. In seven minutes, entrepreneurs must capture the attention of investment vehicles, whether they are business angels or capital ventures”, says the head of Business Growth.
The Reverse Pitch, one of the new activities of this edition, allows investors who take the stage to explain the requirements and the type of companies in which they are looking to invest.
Francesc Navarro, Corporate Strategy at Factorial de Venture Capital at Itnig, will take part in it; Jordi Turmo, director of Farside’s Green Venture; Eli Abdad, investor in the Business Angels network of EconomistesBan and WA4Steam; and Josep Biosca, investor community manager of Ship2B Foundation.
“This activity is very important for entrepreneurs, since it allows them to know if they meet the investor profile needed to invest in their company. “This represents a considerable saving of time”, points out Yolanda Fernàndez Ferré.
Lastly, the investment forum will be held, the most relevant activity of the event, in which eight companies with an open investment round in the pre-seed or seed phase will present their proposals. Once the exhibitions are over, investors will be able to vote to select the best project.
Investment Day will include a round table with the participation of various successful entrepreneurs who have been able to scale their projects thanks to the private financing they have obtained from investor networks and venture capital.
The debate between the different entrepreneurs will be facilitated by Lluís Juncà, director general of Innovation, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The following will take part in the event: Iván Ramírez, CEO of Netrival; Marc Martinell, CEO of Minoryx, Diana Ballart, CEO of The Smart Lollipop; and Eli Abad, founding partner of Between Technologies.
“Investment Days are very useful for both entrepreneurs and investors because they are a meeting point. Attending this type of event serves to establish a first contact between them”, concludes Yolanda Fernàndez Ferré, head of Business Growth at TecnoCampus.
