The company specialized in vegetable creams, gazpachos, broths and sauces Tap Tap Food, founded in 2011 and 50% owned by the Noel group, has invested seven million euros in a new production plant in Sant Joan les Fonts (Garrotxa ). The new factory, which has a production capacity of more than 5,000 tons per year, will increase sales by more than 40%, which last year stood at seven million euros. The forecast of its managers is to exceed ten million euros in turnover in 2023.

Between these facilities, which occupy 4,000 m2, and those that the company already has in Sant Quirze del Vallès, more than 150 references will be produced, which a year ago the company already began to market in the foreign market. Currently, the brand has a presence in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Portugal. The founder and general director of Tap Tap Food, Julià Riera, recognizes that the new facilities will allow us to boost exports, which currently represent a small part of the turnover. “The new plant gives us the necessary productive muscle to continue promoting the business in the foreign market,” he says.

The main country to which it is exported for now is the United Kingdom, where fresh gazpacho is having a very good reception in supermarkets, according to the company. “It has become a strategic product when considering growth in this market,” explains Riera.

The investment and start-up of this new plant represents “one more step” in the Noel group’s diversification strategy. The general director of Noel, Joan Boix, points out that since he became a shareholder in Tap Tap Food in 2020, “the objective has been to turn the brand into a benchmark in the sector.” In 2022, Noel’s non-meat divisions invoiced close to 30 million euros. Apart from Tap Tap Food brand products, these divisions include pizzas, croquettes, fruit juices or products made with plant-based protein alternatives. The meat products division continues to be the group’s main business driver, with a turnover of 537 million euros.

The two plants that Tap Tap Food now has will employ more than a hundred people. La Garrotxa has been built with sustainability criteria to minimize water consumption. It has water recovery systems for cleaning and disinfecting pipes or automatic chlorine and pH controls for cleaning vegetables, which allow costs to be reduced.
