What does Jeep mean by hiding animals in the bodywork? Getting them all is one of the challenges that has gone viral on TikTok among lovers of the American brand. This manufacturer is given to hiding numerous ‘Easter eggs’ with curious locations and shapes in its models, and the Jeep Compass was not going to be an exception. This is how the owners of this car have been discovering the lizard sheltered under the windshield wiper. Had you noticed?

But this reptile is just one of the details that can be found. According to user @schlepperman, the Compass has a dead pedal next to the clutch that, although it apparently means nothing, has the words snow, sand, mud and rock written in Morse code in relief. In the black points of the front windshield wiper, the silhouette of a Willy appears, the first model developed by Jeep, while another reptile appears on the rear: the iconic Loch Ness monster.

The Compass complies with a tradition unknown to the general public, and that is that Jeep has engraved a multitude of messages in the design of its latest models. The North American manufacturer loves to leave its logo as an imprint – seven stripes on the grille between two headlights – on its models. In fact, on the Compass it’s in the headlights. Another example is that of the Jeep Renegade, in which the logo is found on the speakers, in the rear lights or in the interior mirror. Furthermore, on the fuel cap of this model there is another animal: a spider that tells us Ciao, baby!

Car expert TikToker @georgesmithgood explains that another of the brand’s obsessions, which is also present in the Compass, is its first manufactured vehicle: the Willy. The company emerged in 1941 with the aim of providing US troops with a light vehicle to move on the front during World War II. In the Wrangler, the silhouette of Jeep’s ‘great-great-grandfather’ is engraved on the wheels or on the hinge of the removable roof. Even Jeeps with autonomous parking systems represent all the cars it detects on the computer as army Willys.

The most recent Jeep Avenger has not been exempt from this fun sign of the brand either. For example, on the roof rails there is a ladybug and, on the bottom of the windshield, silhouettes of mountains or a child looking through a telescope. This model will win the Best Car of the Year award in Europe in 2023, the most prestigious award given by the automotive industry.
