Rosalía already has a license to drive cars in the United States. The Catalan singer announced the news to her followers through social networks. In a post published on her official Instagram account, the Motomami composer shows a cropped image of her brand new driver’s license in which her face appears in a passport photo. The personal details next to the card are scribbled to protect her privacy.
Rosalía has obtained a driver’s license in Florida (United States), as can be seen in the image where the name of the state in the southeast of the country where the singer has established her residence appears. At 31 years old, Rosalía has seen one of her dreams come true, as can be interpreted from the message that she herself wrote in the post that accompanies the set of photographs that she shows to her fans: “I passed, they gave me the licenseeeeeeeEEEE SEEEEEEE!”, expressed the artist without hiding her state of mind.
The renowned artist can now drive class E vehicles (the equivalent of class B in Spain) in the United States, after passing a 50-question theoretical test and passing a practical driving test in open traffic. Only with this license, the singer could not drive through Spain; she would need to apply for international permission. However, she does not have to do this procedure because she already obtained her car license before in our country.
Until obtaining her license in the United States, Rosalía could only drive on the roads of the North American country with an international permit, as she also had a Spanish license.
The international permit is a temporary license that allows you to drive in practically all countries in the world. It is valid for one year. After this period, it is mandatory to exchange the permit from the country of origin for that of the new country of residence. If there is no collaboration agreement between the countries, as is the case of Spain and the United States, it is necessary to obtain a new license, which is what Rosalía has done.
In Spain, the General Driver Regulations establish that permits issued by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) are valid for driving in the country. It also authorizes permits for citizens from the European Union and the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and from third countries with an agreement with Spain.
According to regulations, drivers from these countries are required to validate their driving license after residing in Spain for at least six months. This process involves administrative procedures, and although it is not necessary to take exams, it is necessary to undergo a mandatory psychophysical test to complete the validation. These are the same tests that the DGT requires to obtain or renew the license.
Rosalía will not have this problem when she wants to drive through Spain, since she is in possession of the driver’s license issued by the DGT. Therefore, she will only have to carry her Spanish license, whether in physical or digital format, in the miDGT.es mobile application, to get behind the wheel legally.
The singer from Sant Esteve Sesrovires does not usually publish photographs of cars on her Instagram account. But in the month of May 2021 she did it to show her followers in great detail the images of a personalized Ford Ranger.
In the photos you can see how the inscription ‘La Rosalía’ – the name by which the author of El Mal Querer is popularly known – is embroidered on the headrests of the seats of this best-selling pickup in the United States. A detail that also does not go unnoticed is the color of the upholstery, in pastel pink.
