The farmers’ protests continue this Wednesday for the second day and keep large traffic routes closed. After the circulatory collapse recorded on Tuesday on various roads throughout Spain, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has reported in recent hours that the most significant outages are recorded especially in Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Castilla-La Mancha Andalusia, Aragon and Murcia.

The demands of farm workers entail road blockages, marches and protests of varying intensity. This Wednesday, farmers took to the streets with their tractors again to collapse the main roads in many parts of Spain, causing traffic cuts and kilometer-long delays. In certain situations, traffic is diverted to secondary roads.

Drivers traveling on the road today and in the coming days may be affected by traffic closures and delays caused by farmers’ protests. The tractor groups organized to demand changes in agrarian policy and reduce the bureaucratic burden of their work entail large delays, especially near road accesses to large urban centers.

Traffic authorities recommend that drivers check the state of the roads before starting their journey and adapt the route according to current incidents, in order to avoid driving on a road affected by the protests. The DGT reminds on its social networks that motorists can consult the interactive map of the traffic status on Spanish roads in real time on its website.

The information provided by Traffic on its interactive map is constantly updated fully automatically with the information entered 24 hours a day by the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard. The incidents relating to Catalonia are provided by the Servei CatalĂ  de TrĂ nsit (SCT) and those of the Basque Country, Trafikoa, which are the organizations in charge of traffic management in these two autonomous communities. For more information on the state of the roads you can call 011.

The DGT interactive map allows you to make any query using a drop-down menu where you must first select the province of interest. Once selected, the map will show incidents on the roads in that area, such as traffic restrictions, traffic jams, works, information about ports, events or weather conditions. The results of the query can be displayed in a map version or just text, depending on the user’s preference.

Mapping uses a selection of colors (black, red, yellow and green) to represent driving conditions on all roads in the selected area. When carrying out a detailed query, clicking on each road, you access a file that provides information on the reason for the incident and the affected kilometer points.

Drivers traveling on the roads of Catalonia and the Basque Country, in addition to consulting traffic information on the DGT interactive map, can also do so through the tools provided by the SCT and Trafikoa.

Both organizations have a specific website where detailed information on traffic conditions, incidents on the roads and other relevant news for drivers is offered in real time. To access the map of Catalan roads click here, and for the Basque Country you can do so at this link.
