The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) launches this Thursday at 3:00 p.m. the last of the special devices prepared for this summer. Between August 31 and until midnight on Sunday September 3, Tráfico calculates that 6,820,000 long-distance movements will be carried out due to the return operation.
According to the forecasts of the DGT, the displacements from the tourist coastal and rest areas to the large urban centers will coincide with the departure movements that also take place during the weekend of the drivers who begin their holidays in September.
To facilitate the mobility and fluidity of users, the body chaired by Pere Navarro has planned a series of measures, such as the installation of additional and reversible lanes with cones and restrictions on the movement of trucks. Likewise, it recommends drivers to plan their trips to avoid the most conflictive hours.
Traffic forecasts indicate that from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, there will be heavy traffic in the return direction and withholdings on the main roads that connect the coastal and rest areas with large urban centers.
On Friday, September 1, between 5 and 10 p.m., greater traffic density is expected as cars returning home coincide with a significant number of drivers who will make the trip in the opposite direction. Intense traffic is expected for Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., heading towards tourist coastal and rest areas.
Sunday the 3rd will be the last day of return for both those who are ending their vacations and those who have enjoyed the weekend. It is expected that between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. there will be high levels of traffic and circulation problems on the main road axes that connect the coastal and rest areas to the large cities.
To ensure the safety of all travelers, as well as to facilitate mobility and fluidity on the roads, the DGT is going to deploy all the technical and human resources at its disposal these days. In addition to the Civil Guard agents at roadside, Tráfico has 780 fixed speed control radars -of which 92 are section-, 545 mobile radars, 245 cameras and 15 camouflaged vans to control the use of mobile phones and seat belt.
Likewise, to check the correct behavior of drivers, the DGT will also use helicopters and drones for surveillance from the air and unmarked vehicles and motorcycles that will circulate on all types of roads.
Traffic has also reported on the installation of additional and reversible lanes with cones at times of greatest traffic flow and on the main access roads to large cities. This measure is complemented by the restriction of truck circulation in certain sections, dates and times and the stoppage of road works.
