At the end of 2019, Porsche began a new era towards sustainable mobility with the Taycan, its 100% electric model. This groundbreaking concept immediately proved to be a revolutionary, pioneering and innovative car in the smoke-free sports vehicle segment.

Now, the German manufacturer continues the success story of the Taycan – which has accumulated almost 150,000 units sold, the most important markets being the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and China – with a completely updated model that reaches new heights in terms of performance, dynamism and driving pleasure but also in terms of efficiency, autonomy, ease of daily use and comfort.

The three body variants of the Taycan: the elegant sports sedan, the versatile Cross Turismo – available with an Offroad package – and the practical Sport Turismo, will have numerous modifications from the launch date, starting this spring. In each case, they will be able to have four engine options, with rear- and all-wheel drive versions, and improved performance in every way.

The new Taycans accelerate much faster than their predecessors. Thus, for example, at the two ends of the range, the variations are especially notable: with a saloon body, the Taycan and the Taycan Turbo S reach the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in just 4.8 and 2.4 seconds. , respectively. This makes them 0.6 and 0.4 seconds faster than the previous ones.

Greater acceleration capacity is generally the result of greater system power, so they are not only faster in terms of speed, but exhibit even more forceful thrust force.

With the new Push-to-pass function of the Sport Chrono package, extra power of up to 70 kW, depending on the model, can be requested for 10 seconds and at the touch of a button. For example, the basic Taycan delivers 60 kW more than before. In the Taycan Turbo S, it’s an additional 140 kW with Launch Control. This increases the total power of the top model to 952 hp/700 kW, making this version the most powerful road model in Porsche history.

These values, on the other hand, allow it to compete head-to-head with the stratospheric performance of the Tesla Model S Paid, its most direct rival, with 1,020 HP and 0-100 in 2.1 seconds.

With such records, the Taycan is a true electrified missile, which is not contradictory for it to improve its autonomy by up to 35% compared to its predecessor. Depending on the body variant and engine, the WLTP range can reach up to 678 kilometers, an increase of 175 km equivalent to 35%.

The updated Taycan not only requires fewer stops to charge on long trips than its predecessor, but also recharges faster: in this way, connected to an 800-volt direct current (DC) pole, it can be charged with a power of up to 320 kW. That’s 50 kW more than before. The fast charging window of the new high-performance battery has been significantly expanded. This means that charging powers of more than 300 kW can be maintained for periods of up to five minutes and that these high figures can be reached more quickly, even at low temperatures.

Depending on driving style, among other variables, these new features would reduce the time needed to go from a 10% to 80% charge in half compared to the previous model. In the 1st generation Taycan, the charging time from 10 to 80 at 15ºC is 37 minutes; Under the same conditions, the new one takes only 18 minutes, despite having a larger capacity battery. The Performance Plus battery now has a gross capacity of 105 kWh, compared to 93 before.

All updated Taycans come with adaptive air suspension as standard. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for all-wheel drive versions. This system offers an unprecedented range of operation between comfort and dynamism. The suspension keeps the car body level at all times, even during sudden braking, turning and acceleration maneuvers.

In smooth driving, the system absorbs impacts almost completely, while in dynamic driving, the Active Ride suspension guarantees an almost perfect connection with the road thanks to a balanced distribution of loads on the wheels. If the corresponding mode is activated, the suspension can compensate for pitch and roll movements to reduce acceleration forces acting on the occupants.

Improved performance and dynamic efficiency are simultaneously accompanied by optimized efficiency. This is due to several factors: an advanced propulsion system, with a new motor on the rear axle that has up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor in all versions; to a modified pulse inverter with optimized software; to more powerful batteries; to revised thermal management; to a state-of-the-art heat pump and a completely new traction and recovery strategy increased by more than 30%, from 290 to 400 kW, during deceleration from high speeds.

Prices for Spain for the new Taycan start at €105,682, the Taycan 4S costs €125,196, while the Turbo rises to €181,177 and the Turbo S stands at €217,106. The amounts are similar for the Sport Turismo: 106,701, 126,206, 182,175 and 218,104 euros, respectively. For their part, the rates corresponding to the Cross Turismo variants are: €118,175 (4), €131,001 (4S), €182,674 (Turbo) and €218,603 (Turbo S).
