The mayoress of Pamplona, ??Cristina Ibarrola, and the president of the Commonwealth, David Campión, have held a meeting in which they have shown their willingness to work “in a coordinated manner” to “improve the provision of various basic services to the citizens of Pamplona” , such as the extension of the electric bicycle service or the improvement of the taxi service and waste collection in Sanfermines.
At the meeting, the first held between the two since Ibarrola assumed the mayor’s office, the proposal to extend the electric bicycle service to other towns in the region was raised, as well as some possible improvements in waste collection at the San Fermín festivities. . Aspects related to the taxi service have also been addressed.
Specifically, with regard to the electric bicycle rental service, both institutions have agreed to work to find formulas that allow the service to reach other towns in the Region. This is a demand that has already been raised by the citizens and city councils of towns such as Burlada, Villava, Sarriguren, Mutilva, Barañáin or Berriozar, for example.
That is why the Commonwealth of the Region of Pamplona, ??by integrating all of them, “can play a fundamental role”. For all these reasons, the City Council and the Commonwealth have undertaken to analyze different administrative formulas that allow finding a way for more people to access this service and use it in different populations.
As for the taxi service, in the meeting between Ibarrola and Campión the “concern” in the provision of the service in areas such as the train station, for example, has been shown. Both entities “will try, in a coordinated manner, to improve the infrastructure of this taxi stop and its operation, to guarantee that those who come to the city by train can count on a more comfortable service that will transport them to the different neighborhoods, and, from In the same way, facilitate access to the train station from different parts of the city”.
Likewise, “the need to improve citizens’ access to the service, which is especially complex at times,” has been addressed. For now, the Commonwealth has announced the tender for 20 new licenses with improved conditions compared to the previous tender.
Finally, in the meeting held between the mayoress and the president of the Commonwealth, emphasis was placed on the importance of working to improve the garbage collection service during the San Fermín festivities, studying improvements in the cleaning of the containers and in collection frequencies.
In addition, as Campión reported at the meeting, door-to-door glass collection in the hotel industry will double in the coming holidays, “something that was demanded by the sector and that contributes to considerably increasing selective collection and reducing waste on public roads.
The City Council and the Commonwealth have agreed to modify the location of some containers, currently installed in emblematic places in the city, so that they will be moved to spaces “somewhat less visible but just as comfortable for citizens, in order to improve the image of the city “.
After this meeting, Ibarrola and Campión have called for a new meeting, which will take place on August 28 to define aspects of improvement in each of these points.
