The pick-up segment has always been synonymous with commercial success for Ssangyong. The new generation of Musso Sports arrives on the Spanish market with the ambition of becoming one of the benchmarks in the segment. Arguments, of course, are not lacking.

The pick-up are vehicles that must fulfill a double facet. On the one hand, they are usually used daily to carry out all kinds of jobs in the most unfavorable conditions and, on the other hand, they are an excellent alternative for field vehicle enthusiasts who need a mechanically simple car, but with excellent off-road qualities.

In order to be a robust and reliable SUV, the Musso Sports is built on a chassis of spars, on which the bodywork is anchored. This solution is combined with a powerful 202 CV diesel engine, a 4×4 traction system with reduction gear and suspensions designed to support heavy loads.

The new Musso Sports has a length of 5,405 mm, a width of 1,950 mm and a height of 1,885 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,210 mm. Its presence is imposing, with a very attractive design presided over by a huge front grill.

One of the strengths of this pick-up is the size of its cargo box. Its dimensions are 1,610 mm long, 1,570 mm wide and 570 mm high, figures that allow for a volume of 1,261 litres. The load capacity is 1,085 kg in the Pro version with manual transmission, 1,075 kg in the automatic Pro and Premium versions, while in the Limited, with a suspension more designed for leisure, it is 870 kg.

To the satisfaction of the users, the interior has been endowed with finishes and materials of remarkable quality. The Korean firm also announces the best spaciousness and comfort in its class. The rear seats deserve special mention, as they have generous legroom and the possibility of reclining the seat backs by 27ยบ, making trips more comfortable.

In the mechanical section, the Musso Sports is equipped with a 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder diesel engine, called e-XDi 220. It offers a maximum power of 202 hp and is associated with a six-speed gearbox, which can be manual or automatic. Its acceleration capacity is good and the top speed is 186 km/h.

The new Ssangyong pick-up is equipped with a connectable all-wheel drive system, with a reduction gear and rear self-locking. The gearbox offers significant gear reduction and very low gears when driving in low gears, thus making it possible to tackle terrain obstacles at very low speeds.

The front suspension is independent, double wishbone and coil springs. Two types of suspension are offered on the rear axle. The first mounts crossbows as elastic elements, a guarantee of reliability and capacity for hard work and high weight loads. The second system, reserved for the Limited finish and designed for leisure activities, is a multi-link type suspension with coil springs, which generates superior ride comfort.

Ssangyong bets heavily on sections such as connectivity and equipment. Depending on the finish, the new Musso Sports has automatic dual-zone climate control, remote control switches and cruise control on the steering wheel, a front camera module with a rain sensor and a multimedia system with an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety is also a fundamental value for the Ssangyong pick-up. Its extensive list of built-in security systems is made up of an ESP electronic stability program, trailer sway control, active anti-roll system, hill descent control, brake assist system, brake distribution between axles, start aid in slope, traction control or warning light for emergency braking.

With prices ranging from 26,500 to 32,000 euros, the range of the new Ssangyong Musso Sports is available in three versions, called Pro, Premium and Limited. It is possible to choose between seven exterior colors and alloy wheels of 17 or 18 inches. Likewise, a complete range of accessories has been provided, such as load dividers, aluminum roll bar, hard-tops for the load area, aluminum skid plate, etc.
