Such is the success of the Enrollagateo, a multi-purpose and transportable crawling mattress, which is about to supplant the name of the company that gave birth to it: Mimaar. Its creator, Aurora Matés, even points out that it is becoming a generic name, as happened in its day with Tiritas, Tampax or Kleenex, brands that have ended up giving names to a range of products.

The origins of Enrollagateo date back to when its inventor was 19 years old and owned two clothing stores for boys and girls. “With the economic crisis of 2008, business went down and I started sewing basics for babies, which I sold through my stores, until I decided to close them and dedicated myself solely to sewing for third parties,” recalls the entrepreneur.

Matés’s good sewing hands led her to sew a transportable crawling mattress for her first son, Marcos. “After looking for it and not finding it, I designed and sewed it myself,” she explains. In 2017, the protagonist patented her creation, which she named Enrollagateo. This was so successful among her clients that it ended up becoming the only product that Matés sewed.

For the commercialization of Enrollagateo, the entrepreneur founded the startup Mimaar: “My from Micah, which is my husband’s name; Mar de Marcos, and the double A of Aurora”, explains the founder. Currently, Matés no longer sews the mattresses personally, but rather she has a team of seven people who work from a workshop located in Castellar del Vallès (Vallès Occidental).

The Enrollagateo is Mimaar’s only product and can only be purchased through the company’s online store. It consists of a crawling mattress with handles that facilitate its transport and is designed to accompany the baby from early childhood, until at least six years old, thanks to its evolutionary accessories.

Publications on social networks by well-known people, such as Laura Escanes, María Pombo, Verdeliss, Lídia Torrent or María F. Rubíes, who have trusted Enrollagateo for their babies, have contributed to the success of this product. The founder, who uses fabrics of national origin, plans to end the year with a turnover of more than 300,000 euros. Time will tell if Enrollagateo finally follows the success of the Tiritas, Tampax or Kleenex companies.
