Industries in High Demand for Talent in India, According to Indeed

According to data released by the global hiring and matching platform Indeed, recruiters in India are facing challenges in finding talent in certain industries. The top search terms used by employers on the platform in 2023 included sales, accounting, nursing, telecaller, and mechanic.

“Sales” emerged as the most common search term by Indian employers, accounting for 10% of all resume searches on the platform. This sector is known for high stress levels, staff turnover, and burnout, making it difficult to fill positions. Similarly, “accounting” is also in high demand across various industries due to increased job postings since 2020.

Nursing roles are sought after in India, but professionals are increasingly seeking opportunities abroad in countries like Australia, Canada, the UK, and the U.S. The growing services industry in India has led to a surge in demand for telecallers, while the shift towards electric vehicles is creating a demand for skilled mechanics.

With initiatives like ‘Make in India’ promoting domestic production, there is a rising need for skilled technicians in manufacturing and production facilities. Other popular search terms among Indian recruiters include “business development executive,” “registered nurse,” “electrician,” “graphic designer,” and “PHP developer.”
