Knaus Yaseo, the ideal caravan for electric cars due to its weight and aerodynamics

The human being does not have a planet B to go to and the climatic situation is a reflection of the critical moment in which we live. Cities shield themselves from pollution, while society adopts a leading role in caring for the environment and the active search for efficient alternatives in its day to day. A mentality that also carries over to the holidays and that the Knaus Tabbert group intends to cover with its latest launch: the Knaus Yaseo caravan.

Electrification is a reality in the world of mobility, both in passenger cars and in any sector related to them. There are many electric cars that talk about their towing capacity, as is the case with the Kia EV6 or its older brother the EV9, but its autonomy can suffer if the load does not have a good drag coefficient or weighs too much. Two fundamental pillars on which the engineers who have developed the Yaseo caravan have worked.

It is a very compact caravan, in which we hardly find any frontal surface, very light in its construction materials and which debuts a design designed for aerodynamics. As stated by the firm, this silhouette generates “less drag, that is, less fuel consumption for the towing vehicle, regardless of the traction with which it is equipped.”

Despite the size of this Yaseo, its interior offers multi-flexible furniture that takes advantage of every corner to improve habitability and comfort during stays. The concept “big things come in small packages” is exemplified by the 500 DK model, which with a surface area of ??10.8 m2 achieves up to 11.7 m2 of useful space. This optimization is not easily achieved, but the FoldXpand technology is key and we already know it from other models such as the Knaus Tourer Van camper.

A modularity that also applies to the rear area of ??the caravan, called the Cozy Lounge, which is easily transformed into a seating area or a 1.3m x 2.0m sleeping area that can be used as a second bed. But not only that, this space also hides the shower that is on the seat to the left of the bathroom door. By moving it, the bathroom area is enlarged to reveal a large shower tray, but we can also fold this cabin to double the size of the mobile chemical toilet and sink area.

As the pictures show, the real secret of its comfort is found on the front wall of the Knaus Yaseo. It is a 1.6 x 2.0 m double bed that can be fixed vertically and even integrates magnificently with the dining room, thanks to the wood-effect slats on its lower side. Thus, you can create a comfortable space with a group of seats facing each other, which will serve as the structure for the bed when unfolding and folding it over the dining space.

It is in this same space that, by having the table folded, we can create a storage space large enough to store bicycles and other items during times of circulation. In addition, they are easily accessible thanks to the side gates and can be tied down with strong lashing rings.

In the Yaseo 500 DK the gas installation has been renounced, so it is a 100% electric model that saves between 20 and 30 kg of cylinders. Of course, they offer an optional conventional gas heater.

The Yaseo 340-PX is a very attractive game of distribution and modularity. At only 3.48 meters long, this caravan offers a space in the rear area that, like its older sister, can either be a dining area or a folding double bed on the roof. It has the same side doors to transport bicycles, so it is the ideal model for a couple who wants to travel with their caravan, camp, and visit the destination in question.

In this model, the kitchen is located in the front part and to its left we find the bathroom. It does not incorporate the FoldXpand system so it is much more compact, but the use of the passenger compartment is still highly commendable. A “mini” size that also applies to details such as the rear light clusters, key to saving weight, and which allows users of electric cars to travel without suffering the consequences of a heavy load.
