California (USA) has decidedly opted for autonomous vehicles. In August, the state’s Public Utilities Commission voted to allow Waymo robotaxis to circulate in the city of San Francisco. However, some users do not get used to these vehicles full of technology and questioned by some for their lack of safety.
In a video that has gone viral on Instagram, a user tells of her experience taking one of the vehicles. The car comes to pick her up on a kind of esplanade. She, somewhat fearful and incredulous about the trip she is planning to take, gets into the taxi, which has all kinds of technology.
In the absence of a driver, the vehicle has a large screen in the back, where the customer selects where they want to go and when to start their journey.
This is what this woman does, and she can’t help but laugh nervously. In the video, you can see how the car starts up. Everything seems to pass without incident, although the recording cuts out soon and it cannot be seen if he arrives at the destination without incident.
Waymo Driver is an electric, autonomous transportation service from General Motors, owned by Google parent company Alphabet.
These robotaxis include several cameras that provide a 360-degree vision system, capable of detecting any object more than five hundred meters away. The vehicles already roll in several American cities, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles or Phoenix.
