Gas Ibérica will become the first company to choose the Ercros chemical complex in Flix (Ribera d’Ebre), which ceased its industrial activity on December 31, to set up its base of operations. The company, which is part of the French consortium Gazechim, will install its storage and distribution center for gaseous and liquid refrigerant products for the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, in a 4,000-square-meter area of ??the historic chemical estate. The investment announced this afternoon will be around five million euros and some 80 direct jobs will be created.

Together with the Flix City Council, the Generalitat is leading a plan to reindustrialize the municipality, key to the entire Ribera d’Ebre region and the interior of Terres de l’Ebre. “This is great news for Flix and for the country, it marks the path that we want to continue working in a coordinated and concerted manner with the public and private sectors”, highlighted Roger Torrent, Minister of Business. “Surely many more companies will come in the future”, he has predicted.

Gas Ibérica’s plans are to transfer water purification and salinization products from France to Flix. Also others necessary for the pharmaceutical sector, air conditioning or refrigeration. The products will continue to be manufactured in France, but they will be packaged and distributed from the Ribera d’Ebre, for subsequent marketing in Spain. “We have always insisted on the need to maintain activity on the Ercros land. We are beginning to bear the first fruits, we hope it will be a turning point. Our vocation is industrial and we hope our future will be as well”, Francesc Barbero highlighted. , mayor of Flix.

Ercros will provide general services, such as the water supply, external surveillance or the entry and exit of vehicles. Diego García, the director of the Gas Ibérica group, has highlighted the “facilities” that Ercros has given to enable the new center in its facilities. “We are very happy to come to Flix, I am confident that we will be the first and an example for many other companies to come to develop here”, García highlighted during the investment presentation.

The contract for the arrival of Gas Ibérica to the Ercros land was signed today by Marc Fargas, industrial director of the chlorine derivatives division and, on behalf of Gas Ibérica, Gilles Minier, sole administrator of the company.
