Here are five ways you can save gas money, as oil analysts predict that pump prices will remain high for months.

1. That’s why there is an app.

Download a mobile app, such as GasBuddy or Gas Guru to see the lowest gas prices in your area. GasBuddy estimates that drivers could save up to 25 cents per gallon by buying the lowest priced gas in their area. These apps are available for iOS and Android devices.

2. Get groceries and gas

Many grocery and wholesale chains, including Safeway, Winn-Dixie, and BJ’s offer gas discounts when you shop in their stores. Customers can save 10 cents per gallon at Safeway when they spend $100 for groceries. Kroger offers a similar program that saves 10 cents per gallon at Shell gas stations. You will need to be a member of the store in order to enjoy some of these perks.

3. Take better care of you car

Maintaining your vehicle’s maintenance is a good way to reduce fuel consumption and save money. Check your tire pressure. Replace the air filter and get the oil changed. You can save gas by staying within the speed limit and not driving aggressively.

4. Remember that cash is the king

There is no significant difference in filling up your vehicle with regular or premium unleaded gasoline. So, go for the lowest grade. You will pay less at many service stations if you pay cash or with a debit card. You can fill up at gas stations where you have cash instead of paying with your debit card.

5. Avoid driving

Use public transport. Use your bicycle. To share an electric vehicle, carpool. You will save money on gas by not driving your own car as much.
