Fiat is gearing up to unveil the Grande Panda on July 11, marking a departure from the traditional city runabout to a more crossover style vehicle. The new Panda, measuring almost four meters long, showcases a modern design with angular features and robust SUV elements like flared wheel arches and 17-inch alloy wheels.

One of the key updates in the Grande Panda is the integration of the battery into the vehicle floor, a shift from previous models where parts of the battery were located on the rear axle. This change is part of the STLA Smart platform, which the Panda shares with the Citroën (ë-) C3, offering versatility in size and drive options like battery electric, mild hybrid, and gas for different markets globally.

The Grande Panda will initially be available in hybrid and battery electric versions. The hybrid model will feature a 74 kW drive similar to the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid, while the electric version is expected to come with an 83 kW electric motor and 125 Nm torque, akin to the Citroën ë-C3.

Apart from these options, the STLA Smart platform opens doors for various derivatives tailored to different regions and preferences. From a pick-up truck to a sleek hatchback saloon, and even a camper van version, Fiat plans to offer a diverse range of models to cater to a wider audience. The traditional Panda model will still be produced alongside the new Grande Panda until 2027, ensuring continuity for fans of the original design.
