The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) launched at 3:00 p.m. this Friday a special device on the occasion of the Easter holidays, at which time the first traffic jams were registered on Spanish roads, specifically at the exits from Madrid and Mediterranean capitals such as Alicante, Barcelona, ​​Castellón de la Plana, Granada, Málaga, Murcia, Palma, Tarragona and Valencia.
According to DGT data on the state of the roads, collected by Servimedia, at that time there were small traffic jams on 17 road sections in the Community of Madrid, including three on the M-40, one on the M-45 and three on the M-50, as well as on the main exits from the capital.
Thus, there was irregular traffic at the exits of the A-1 in Club de Campo towards Burgos, the A-2 in San Fernando de Henares towards Zaragoza, the A-3 in Rivas-Vaciamadrid towards Valencia, the A-4 in La Atayuela towards Córdoba, the A-5 in Humera towards Badajoz, the A-6 in the capital towards A Coruña and the A-42 in Fuenlabrada and Parla towards Toledo.
The slow circulation also affected 20 sections of highways in Barcelona, ​​including the B-10 and B-20 roundabouts both towards the Nudo de la Trinidad and the Nudo de Llobregat, the B-30 in the Catalan capital and in both directions, the A-2 in Fatjó towards Lleida, the AP-7 in Barberá del Vallés towards Tarragona and in Santiga towards Girona, and various sections of the C-17, C-32, C-33, C-55, the C-58 and C-60.
Seville also registered heavy traffic in three sections of the SE-30 and one of the A-49 in Camas. Something similar happened in Valencia with the A-3 in Cheste towards the A-7, the A-7 in Cruz de Gracia towards Barcelona and Partida de Gausa towards Alicante and other sections on the V-21, V-30, V -31, the CV-30 and the CV-35.
The DGT special operation will last from 3:00 p.m. this Friday until Monday, April 10, a period during which it expects 16 million road trips, the highest number of vehicles expected since 2005.
According to the DGT, this holiday period is “one of the most complicated of the year, as the volume of trips that are made in a short space of time, with similar origins and destinations and made on the same days and hours, increases.” Last year there were 25 fatal accidents at Easter, in which 27 people died.
