The path has been laid out by the environmental policy of the European Union. There is no turning back, each manufacturer has interpreted the situation in its own way, but the electrification of the market is already an inevitable fact. In the case of Kia, the firm commitment to electrified mobility is evident. It is enough to observe the renewed offer of vehicles of this type that we find in its complete range. Not surprisingly, it is the second brand in electrification in Spain and by 2027 it will have 15 electric vehicles in the European market.

The appearance of the EV9, a seven-seater electric SUV that will arrive at the end of the year, confirms Kia’s commitment to this technology and confirms its commitment to sustainable mobility.

For its part, with the EV6 the way of understanding the electric car has changed. It is the first model of the brand developed on a specific platform, called E-GMP, designed exclusively for electric vehicles. It marks a new era in design and is available in two and four wheel drive versions. And it can have 170, 228 and 325 HP of power and a range of up to 528 km.

But it is the EV6 GT sports car that has broken all the schemes, existing conventions, and even some other prejudice about high-performance electric cars. From the outset, it is the most powerful Kia in history. And thanks to its advanced electric powertrain capable of generating 585 PS, the new EV6 GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h.

Kia defines it as a high-performance, fully electric crossover, created for the new era of sustainable mobility. The goal of the Korean brand is to offer a high-performance car, combined with maximum comfort and equipped with ultra-fast charging technologies.

Externally, it shows a series of details and modifications that certify the scope of its benefits and, incidentally, establish differences with the rest of the EV6 range.

At the front it has a specific bumper that highlights the width of the car. Laterally, the sporty character is reflected in the 21-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels. I mean, huge wheels. The neon-finish brake calipers suggest its high stopping power. At the rear, the EV6 GT features a unique bumper and diffuser that complete the aesthetic transformation of the vehicle.

Inside, Kia offers attractive personalization with details such as metallic inserts with the GT badge and neon green piping that highlight the modern and technical aspect of the seats. The ergonomic two-spoke steering wheel includes a new GT drive selector, to easily personalize the driving experience.

So that the driver and occupants have the perception of traveling in an exclusive sports car, the EV6 GT has an active sound function, responsible for providing a synthesized augmentation of selected sounds through the company’s high-performance audio system. Meridian.

Equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, the EV6 GT has four-wheel drive. The front engine has 218 bhp and is paired with a new engine at the rear that makes 367 bhp. Total combined power is 585 hp, with true supercar acceleration.

The battery has a capacity of 77.4 kWh and the approved autonomy reaches 424 km. Equally remarkable is the ultra-fast charging capacity that allows you to go from 10 to 80% charge in just 18 minutes. It also includes the two-way charging function to use the power of the car battery to charge devices such as electric bicycles, scooters or smartphones. The high performance of the EV6 GT have forced Kia technicians to develop a firmer suspension that limits roll in curves and improves reactions when changing lanes.

A feature of this model is a specific variable ratio steering, including a more direct feel and quicker response when driving the vehicle in GT mode.

The weight distribution is very balanced and the center of gravity is very low, generating excellent stability on curved roads. The suspension also has a specific setting in the EV6 GT. In addition, the EV6 GT is equipped with a specific electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD), optimized to make efficient use of power and which includes functions in charge of balancing the relationship between agility and comfort. It is also equipped with electronic suspension control with continuous adjustment of its dampers, also exclusive to the model.

The driver can choose between different driving modes, among which is the new exhilarating response GT mode that automatically configures the electric motors, brakes, steering, semi-active dampers, e-LSD and electronic stability control ( ESC).

In GT mode, ESC allows more slip and can even be fully disabled to increase oversteer potential. The passion behind the wheel is completed with the Drift mode, with which the rear wheels can exert 100% of the impulse. And, as in the rest of the range, it has a regenerative braking system and “i-Pedal” mode. With this mode, the driver hardly has to brake, just release the accelerator and the car practically comes to a stop. It is especially useful in the city and helps to recover autonomy.
