The acting head of the Government, Xavier Espot, and the general trustee, Roser Suñé, discussed in Paris the main current political, economic and social issues in Andorra with the French co-prince, Emmanuel Macron. The meeting also served to analyze the challenges and objectives for the next legislature after the recent electoral appointment in the principality.

The main issue discussed with the French president, and Andorran co-prince, was the country’s rapprochement with the European Union through the Association Agreement. The purpose of this instrument is to allow participation in a progressive and structured manner in the European internal market. To this end, it is planned to maintain the fundamental specificities linked to the demographic and territorial reality of the country. For this reason, the three leaders agreed on the importance of reaching a good agreement for the principality that guarantees the growth and future economic diversification of Andorra.

The meeting also discussed the development of work to increase the real estate stock in Andorra at an affordable price, to implement policies that improve the purchasing power of citizens and to create measures in favor of sustainable and balanced growth.

Issues related to the Association Agreement were also present in the meeting prior to the appointment with Emmanuel Macron held by Espot and Suñé with Patrick Strzoda, the personal representative of the French co-prince. In fact, the progress of the negotiation was treated as one of the most important aspects, and in this sense, both Xavier Espot and Roser Suñé highlighted the importance of the agreement to diversify the economy and promote economic growth.

At the same time, they addressed how the factors of diversification and growth of the economy that the agreement with the European Union will provide are key for Andorra to assume a prominent role as the motor of the territory of the Pyrenees, both in the French border departments and in the Catalan regions. neighbors.
