Spain has distributed a total of 58,991 million of European funds until November 30 between the seventeen autonomous communities and the two autonomous cities, according to the latest execution report of the Ministry of Economy presented this Thursday by the first vice president, Nadia Calviño, in which was his last appearance in the Congress of Deputies. This global figure includes community aid executed by the State, those managed by the autonomous communities, which already total more than 26,199 million transferred, and the React-EU fund, of 10,000 million.
Catalonia is the autonomous community that has received the most funding up to this point, according to the information compiled by the Ministry in sheets by territory. Among the funds managed by the Generalitat until now, 3,963 million; those executed by the State, 3,070 million; and the React-EU, with 1,706 million, Catalonia has received 8,739 million. It is ahead of the Community of Madrid, where 8,358 million have been distributed between the three concepts, and Andalusia, with 8,298 million allocated today.
In a second step is the Valencian Community, with 6,092 million committed. And in a third, at a certain distance, are autonomies such as Castilla y León, Galicia, the Canary Islands, the Basque Country and Aragon. Cantabria, with permission from Ceuta and Melilla, is the territory that has received the least European funds at the end of November.
The autonomies with the highest number of participants in calls associated with European funds are Catalonia and Madrid, with 109,000 to date. The highest number of calls has occurred in the Community of Madrid, with 460, always according to data collected by Economía. In Catalonia there have been 420, in Andalusia 395 and in the Valencian Community 390.
Vice President Calviño explained that calls and tenders for European funds continue to be resolved at a constant cruising speed since last year. The average number of resolutions is 2,000 million per month. According to the outgoing Minister of Economy, this distribution is having a positive impact on the economy, since more than 600,000 projects are being financed throughout the territory, of which 60% are promoted by companies and research centers. The Public Treasury of the Kingdom of Spain has made payments of more than 37,000 million at the end of November 2023.
Economía also highlights in its status report the “geographical capillarity” of the Recovery Plan, “with significant penetration in the provinces of the so-called Empty Spain.” Among the provinces with the highest proportion of companies benefiting from European funds, Soria, Huesca and Teruel stand out, where around 10% of companies have benefited from aid. When analyzing the average macroeconomic impact per company, it is in Álava where the highest average award amount is recorded due to the concentration in companies dedicated to the manufacturing industry and the construction of civil works.
At the local level, seven out of ten towns in Spain have benefited from European funds. The four main cities, Madrid, Barcelona, ??Valencia and Zaragoza, concentrate 28% of the resolved funds.
