Catalan companies raised 766 million euros in Next Generation funds, which means 21% of the total distributed throughout Spain. Minister Roger Torrent described the evolution of companies in accessing European funds as “positive”. The weight of Catalonia in the Spanish GDP is 19%, so the deposit is slightly higher than that indicator.

“The result is above the 20% that we had set as our objective,” explained the Business Minister at a conference to present the results. Regarding the number of benefited companies, there are 618, which represents 24% of the total.

The executive director of ACCIO, Joan Romero, has highlighted that the sector that has received the most aid is industrial systems with 26%. Health was next with 16%.

By region, the companies from Barcelona were the ones that received the most aid with 46% of the total. After them came Vallès Occidenteal (17.8%) and Baixa Llobregat (10.4%).

The data on the recruitment of aid has been carried out by the technical team of the department, analyzing all the calls that have been carried out and who have been the winners. Torrent has indicated that the study has been carried out only for Catalan companies and that they do not have data from other communities.

Torrent asked about the possibility that Tesla settles in Valencia and not in Catalonia, the minister replied that they never comment on investment rumors. However, regarding the “value chain” of the battery sector, the Minister said that Catalonia is well positioned.
