“A bicycle as a representation of the individuality of each one, with a special and different design to experience the power of an electric vehicle and an alternative adapted to the future to make trips around the city, to the university or to work, an experience comfortable and exciting. This is how the Dutch firm Bekr defines the new Model F, the brand’s second model and the first electric bicycle in its catalog after the launch of the Model B electric scooter.
Quite an exercise in style -and a declaration of intent-, the fat bike from the Netherlands was born as an evolution of Bekr’s own style, embodied in its first product and developed to revolutionize the appearance of electric transport on two wheels. With a clean design that is inspired by the past but reinterpreted and modernized with contemporary technology, it is disruptive and fun.
Fat bikes have the advantage of their wide tires, but the 20-inch wheels – the standard size of this type of bike – are too small for users of average height, so their designers have created their own unique custom 22-inch wheels. inches, which is a considerable modification to improve ride and ride comfort.
Despite lacking suspension (an element that significantly increases the final cost of an e-bike), the diameter of the rim and its “fat” wheel neutralize most irregularities in the road surface and better filter potholes and road imperfections that conventional thin covers, much less “permissive”. In addition, the saddle (which is long enough to carry two people) has built-in shock absorption, ensuring a comfortable ride.
With this same objective, they have also replaced the traditional chain -which gets greased, dirty and makes noise- and they have opted for an automatic belt transmission to drive the rear wheel. In this way, Model F provides a smooth and quiet driving experience to enjoy the surroundings; In addition, it does not require maintenance.
The two-speed motor is integrated directly into the rear wheel hub and provides preferred electrical support while riding: with low assistance if active pedaling is preferred, or more electrical power when required by riding conditions. circulation or the characteristics of the route.
It reaches a peak of 25 km/h, so it is compatible with European regulations, and the maximum autonomy of pedaling assistance is 60 or 75 km, depending on whether you choose the 540 or 700 Wh battery offered by the manufacturer as choice. These provide a maximum range of pedaling assistance of 60 or 75 km.
The first 20 units of the Launch Edition series (€2,995) have already been sold out, the Model F can be purchased on the Bekr website in its First Edition version (€2,945), which is estimated to be delivered to its customers from the third quarter of the year.
