The Benidorm City Council has launched the first two smart bike racks with the capacity to house ten bicycles each and accessible through an application.

It is a completely free parking service, easy to use and which has been operational since Thursday on Armada Española avenue, at Moralet and Puerto Rico streets.

The user only has to download the “Pverde” app on their mobile device and, once registered, they will receive a personal code with which they can unlock the bike rack to pick up or deposit their bike each time they use it.

The application is available for iPhone and Android. Through it, the user will only have to select the car park where they are going to park their bike, enter the code and press a virtual lock to open the door.

From the consistory they have indicated that, with the implementation of the Low Emission Zone, this intelligent bike parking system will be extended to “at least a dozen points in the city”.

The mayor of Mobility, Francis Muñoz, explained that these devices are “prepared” so that electric bicycles can be parked by having plugs to charge them.
