Badalona strengthens economic relations with China

The mayor of Badalona (Barcelonès Nord), Xavier Garcia Albiol, today received the acting consul of the People’s Republic of China in Barcelona, ??Hu Aimin, accompanied by several members of the General Association of Chinese Merchants who have their headquarters in Badalona.

At the meeting, which in addition to the mayor included the participation of the second and fourth deputy mayors, Cristina Agüera and Rosa del Amo, respectively, the social and commercial relations between China and Badalona and the Chinese community were discussed. in the city. The Chinese consul thanked the mayor for his reception as well as the city’s support for the Chinese community living in Badalona. Hu Aimin has also shown interest in cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Badalona and has shown his willingness to further improve future economic relations with the city.

For his part, the mayor of Badalona has positively valued this visit from an institutional, social and business point of view. The mayor has expressed his interest in having Chinese businessmen join the new Badalona South Business Association (AEBS), with which the Badalona government is configuring the improvements that the Badalona South industrial estate needs.

García Albiol has highlighted the importance that the community from China has in the city and has expressed the desire to know their concerns and worries in order to have better relations. According to the mayor: “Badalona has been closed in on itself for many years and the city needs to open up to the world, make itself known and cross borders because this way we can exploit and offer our social and business potential.” During the meeting it was also agreed to explore the possibility of twinning Badalona and any Chinese population with which there are ties or economic relations.
