A student who graduated from the double degree in Business Administration and Tourism at TecnoCampus has obtained one of the scholarships awarded by the Catalan Tourism Agency in the call for 2024. The objective of these scholarships is to incorporate scholarship personnel in the Tourism Promotion Offices that The agency has in different parts of the world.
Specifically, the Agency offered a total of 11 places in its call: two in Paris, two in London, two in Frankfurt, one in Milan, one in Brussels, one in Stockholm, one in Madrid and one in New York. TecnoCampus student Sandra Parrot has obtained a scholarship to enter the Office of Tourism Promotion in Madrid.
Sandra Parrot learned about the call for scholarships from the Catalan Tourism Agency through Judith Turrión, coordinator of the Double Degree in Tourism and Business Administration that she studied at the TecnoCampus. She verified that she met all the requirements and decided to try her luck: “I submitted the documents on the last day,” says Parrot.
Among other documents, the call required him to present a video resume and a cover letter. From here, she received an appointment to take a multiple choice exam on current affairs and a level test, which she took in English and Italian. Thanks to the results obtained in this first phase, she was selected among the 30 best. The next step was her personal interview. “They asked me what destinations I most wanted, and I said London and Madrid,” explains Sandra. Finally, the agency chose her to occupy the intern position at the Madrid Tourism Promotion Office, where she will begin her experience at the beginning of next year. The scholarship lasts one year with the possibility of extending it to two.
In the Madrid office, Sandra Parrot will be in charge of carrying out campaigns and promotional actions for the Catalunya brand. One of the planned activities will be to participate in the FITUR tourism fair, where the Catalan Tourism Agency will have its own stand.
Parrot explains that when he finished his studies “he really wanted to try things” and also “wanted to leave Barcelona and try other places.” The scholarship for the Madrid Tourism Promotion Office gives him the opportunity to have this experience “and go to another place with a job that allows me to get to know the sector.”
The coordinator of the Degree in Tourism and the double degree in Tourism and Business Administration at TecnoCampus, Judith Turrión, explains that for the university based in Mataró, one of its students obtains an internship scholarship in an organization such as the Agència Catalana de Turisme ” It has several positive impacts.” “One of the highlights is the contribution to the reputation of the university, making it more attractive to future students. This success consolidates the perception that, at our center, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to face the world of work.”
On the other hand, Turrión adds that “a student’s success can act as a source of inspiration for others, stimulating them to seek similar opportunities. This positive dynamic can foster a culture of academic excellence and increase the competitiveness of our educational center.”
Overall, the achievement of this scholarship not only reflects the individual success of the student, “but also contributes to the prestige of the institution, establishing links with renowned organizations and reinforcing the image that TecnoCampus offers,” concludes the professor.
