A TecnoCampus company launches a new tool to prevent data leaks in companies

The company located in the TecnoCampus ESED – Cyber ??Securiy

Taking a step forward in its services, ESED has just presented a new tool, WWatcher, specifically designed to minimize the risk of information theft. What makes WWatcher unique is that it minimizes the massive download of internal and company documents that can lead to a data leak problem in companies in the hypothetical case of a computer attack.

As explained by the company, it is a system capable of establishing behavioral rules for downloading information. For example, WWatcher connects with Microsoft 365 and allows you to limit the GB or number of items that a user can download in a day.

“This solution was born after detecting real problems and needs in some of our clients,” explains Esteban Sardanyés, Founding Partner of ESED and cybersecurity specialist. When a company gives access to information to its employees, they can use this information legitimately, but it does not mean that they use it lawfully. Company information will always remain the company’s. “For example, a salesperson, if he decides to stop working for the company, could download the client portfolio to take with him and use it in his new job. This could also happen in law offices with the downloading of files and cases,” he gives as an example.

In these cases, “WWatcher serves to detect if information is being downloaded in bulk, but maintaining the user’s privacy.” The tool administrator receives an alert when a user is exceeding the download GB they are allowed, but the tool does not require access to the information that the user has downloaded. “If a user repeatedly exceeds the download limit, it may be a data leak or information theft,” adds Eduard Bardají, co-founder of ESED and also a cybersecurity specialist.

WWatcher connects to the Microsoft 365 tenant to detect unusual file download behavior. The tool allows you to know who and the number of files and volume of data that a user has downloaded, to prevent the theft of sensitive and confidential company information. According to Ester Ribas, head of marketing and communication at ESED, this tool prevents data filtration and manipulation, limits employees from downloading confidential or sensitive company information in bulk, and implements an extra layer of cybersecurity for employees. documents and files.

This is the second self-developed tool that the market launches after, in early 2023, it presented Petam.io, an automatic online scanner to detect security gaps and vulnerabilities in websites.

“Cybersecurity is a very complex sector. At ESED we like to remember that not all computer security solutions work for all companies, but rather that they must be able to adapt to the real needs of the business. For this reason, every time we detect a new security need in a company, we evaluate it and study how we can solve it,” Bardají assesses.

In parallel to cybersecurity solutions, ESED also develops other corporate social responsibility projects. This is the case of DualsApp, an application specifically designed to simplify and streamline the management of internships between educational centers, teachers, students and companies.

This tool arises in response to the joint need of companies and educational centers to simplify the process of searching, selecting and managing student internships. This process is often hindered by the lack of efficient tools for sharing job offers, ineffective communication channels and the complexity in managing bureaucratic procedures between the educational center, the student and the company.

DualsApp centralizes all relevant information and documentation in a single space, allowing educational centers to streamline the bureaucratic processes necessary for the connection between company and student. In addition, it contributes to reducing costs and minimizing the time spent by teachers supervising practices, by providing a single management platform.

For students, DualsApp offers the possibility to search, find and apply autonomously to the offers that interest them. They can upload their resume to their personal area and apply for offers easily with one click, eliminating the need for the professor to act as an intermediary.

Companies, for their part, have direct access to the platform, where they can easily and quickly upload their offers through a simple form and for free, making them visible to all students.
