A driver faces a possible prison sentence for a video spread on networks

Reckless driving behavior, in addition to implying a fine of 500 euros according to traffic laws, can constitute a criminal offense against road safety if it puts the lives of other drivers at risk. On January 29, a reckless driver was detected on the A-2, near Puebla de Alfindén, Zaragoza.

The Zaragoza Civil Guard Traffic Group arrested him thanks to a video recorded by witnesses to the event that they published on social networks. On the aforementioned highway with two lanes in each direction, a vehicle was overtaking a truck when the offender tried to pass them simultaneously, creating a situation of three vehicles in parallel on a two-lane road.

After this dangerous maneuver, the driver continued driving recklessly, traveling at high speed, occupying both lanes and weaving. Although the overtaking was not captured on video, highway cameras confirmed the risky behavior.

The sum of these actions led to the arrest of the offender, accused of a crime against road safety. The law criminalizes reckless driving, endangering the lives of others, with penalties ranging from six months in prison to two years, with the possible deprivation of the right to drive for one to six years.
