If there is a place where mobility is being transformed, that is the Valencian Community, where yesterday a new meeting of the ERE negotiating committee that Ford proposes took place in Valencia in full transition to electric vehicles. The electric vehicles for its European division will be produced in Almussafes and its production manager in Spain, Dionisio Campos, will speak about this today, who will speak about how and why the Almussafes plant is the engine of cutting-edge mobility. Its president in Spain, Jesús Alonso, will also speak tomorrow to talk about the role of automotive companies in the transition to electrification.
Ford’s is one of the prominent presences at a meeting that will bring together more than 5,000 executives and 340 experts from around the world to discuss and define the future of mobility and the evolution towards decarbonization. Companies such as Baleària, AirNostrum, Stadler, bp, Puerto de Valencia, Zeleros, Power Electronics, Renfe, the AVIA cluster, Toyota, Tesla or Cepsa are also participating in the congress, as well as organizations such as Espais Econòmics Empresarials, the manager of Parc Sagunt, where the gigafactory will be located.
Also the Technological Institute of Energy, which recently inaugurated Battery Lab, a unique battery laboratory in the Valencian Community; Castellón Airport, the Polytechnic University of Valencia or Startup Valencia.
Among the activities scheduled within the framework of the congress (which lasts three days) highlights the celebration next Thursday of the European Battery Forum 2023, organized by the European Association of Automotive Battery Manufacturers, Eurobat, which will take place for the first time in Valencia . The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, as well as the CEO of PowerCo, Thomas Dahlem, will participate in it.
“The Eurobat forum takes place just before Spain assumes the presidency of the Council of the European Union, in which the key policies and strategies in this sector will be discussed until 2024. At this juncture, Valencia is called to be one of the hubs in sustainable mobility with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050”, says the General Director of Government Action Coordination, Juan Ángel Poyatos.
The choice of Valencia as the venue for the event is linked to its latest news related to the industry, since both the gigafactory and the electrification of Almussafes suggest that this will be a community that is especially involved in the transition.
“The celebration of the eMobility Expo World Congress in Valencia confirms the region’s commitment to mobility and consolidates it as a benchmark for the industry at an international level. For three days, the city will become the meeting point for world leaders in the sector who will analyze the sustainability and digitization needs facing the industry and will offer the latest trends to respond to its present and future challenges”, says Sandra Infante, Director of eMobility Expo World Congress.
The discussion on how cities change will also take place at this meeting, which has invited managers from the Basque Country, Castilla-La Mancha or the Valencian Community to discuss how to implement efficient and environmentally friendly transport strategies in cities.
And the meeting also makes room for startups in a city that is already the third entrepreneurship hub in the State with the eMobility Startup Forum, which will be inaugurated by the Councilor for the Treasury Borja Sanjuán tomorrow afternoon. Among others, the port of Valencia will participate with its Opentop acceleration program and all will compete in a competition on sustainable mobility in which more than 400 startups will participate.
