An off-duty civil guard has prevented a tragedy on a bus on the regular Madrid-Cádiz line with 17 passengers on board whose driver fainted. He was alerted by the cries of several travelers and his quick action was essential so that there were no deaths to be regretted.
“I was reading and heard a loud scream from a passenger who was next to the driver; “I looked up and saw that the bus was invading the shoulder, leaving on the right side, and began to rub against the entire protective fence,” said the agent in statements provided by the Civil Guard through his X account (formerly Twitter ).
The agent, a civil guard assigned to the Móstoles Traffic Detachment (Madrid), went to the driving position and with the help of another passenger, they pulled the driver aside to take charge of the controls. They were able to redirect the vehicle after it collided with the highway protection guardrail in the municipality of Santa Elena (Jaén).
“It did not end with a disastrous result, thanks to the intervention of some passengers who acted quickly and decisively to avoid a catastrophe,” assures the worthy.
The driver was urgently transported by the health services to the San Agustín Hospital in Linares (Jaén), where after an initial examination he was discharged.
After the corresponding procedures were carried out by the Road Safety Investigation Unit of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Jaén, the transport company authorized another driver, who continued the trip in the same vehicle.
