More than 2,400 kilometers by bicycle for 21 days is the route that Guillermo Cuenca and Alba Bajo from Valladolid have set themselves to raise 15,000 euros – they already have close to 10,000 -, with the aim of allocating them to research into childhood cancer.

A solidarity initiative entitled ‘Investigation IN pedals’, which in turn is part of the solidarity project ‘Yo IN, and you?’ that Cuenca launched four years ago due to Ewing’s sarcoma.

Cuenca and Bajo will leave Madrid tomorrow to tour the research centers that receive funds from the Pablo Ugarte Association (APU), to which the funds are fully allocated.

“We want to connect all the centers to, on the one hand, unite the science of childhood cancer and, on the other, make visible the work that they are carrying out in each one of them,” he explained to EFE this Thursday, to point out that tomorrow will take place a march on foot in the Madrid municipality of Colmenar Viejo as a prelude to this route.

However, the “official” tour will begin early on Saturday heading north to make visible the 29 research projects funded by APU distributed in fourteen hospitals located in Bilbao, Pamplona and Barcelona, ??and from there head south towards Valencia, Murcia, Cádiz and finish in Seville.

During the trip, they will not only be accompanied by a support car and a dozen cyclists who will participate in some of the 17 scheduled stages, but they will also have the support of more than 80 ‘0 numbers’ with whom they hope to reach the goal of 15,000 euros.

At the moment, this initiative has the support of public institutions and private companies such as DHL Supply Chain Spain, NH Hoteles, Michelin Foundation, Jeep, Orbea, ASDE Scouts of Spain or the Colmenar Viejo City Council, although those interested may join the ‘ 0’ bibs until the end of the tour, and those who want to participate in person can find out through social networks or the website yoinytu.es.
