You criticize Meloni for karaoke with Salvini after the shipwreck in Calabria

Some opposition politicians and opinionists have strongly criticized the images that have gone viral of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, who last Friday during the party of 50 years of the leader of the League sang karaoke together, despite the fact that bodies continued to be found from the shipwreck of February 26 off the coast of Calabria.

A video of the two singing during the birthday, in which the also government partner and leader of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi, also participated, was published by the deputy editor of the newspaper “Il Giornale”, Nicola Porro, on his social networks.

“Yesterday was a very painful day for all of us, we buried some coffins, including a little girl. I must say that I was very impressed by the images that I saw of both the government press conference and the karaoke of Salvini and Meloni, who did not want to meet with the families of the victims or pay tribute to the coffins, but found time to celebrate Minister Salvini’s 50th birthday,” said Matteo Lepore, mayor of Bologna, the city where the funeral of some of the victims of the Cutro shipwreck was held yesterday.

While the spokesperson for the opposition Democratic Party (PD), Simona Malpezzi, declared: “They did not pay tribute to Cutro’s dead, they put on a pathetic staging, they changed institutional commitments to go sing at Salvini’s party. Inhumanity, cynicism, improvisation and cruelty: this government explained it in a few gestures. What a shame…”.

Last Thursday, Meloni organized a council of ministers in Cutro, the town where the shipwreck of a barge with nearly 200 migrants occurred and of which only 80 survived and so far the bodies of 79 people have been found, including 32 minors. .

However, none of the members of the Government went to the Crotone sports palace where the coffins with the victims were placed, while the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the leader of the PD, Elly Shlein, did attend.

“The two Christians Meloni and Salvini do not go to Cutro to pray in front of the coffins, they leave Cutro without wanting to see them and then at night a little karaoke for Salvini’s birthday,” journalist Selvaggia Lucarelli said on Twitter.

Many have noted that the two leaders sang “Marinella’s Song” by Fabrizio de Andre, inspired by the story of a Calabrian emigrant who was found drowned in a river.”

“They sing on the wrong day. In the wrong place,” the director of “La Stampa”, Massimo Giannini, wrote on his networks.
