This Saturday begins the call for the literary contest organized by the gastronomy channel Comer de La Vanguardia, which for the fourth consecutive year wants to award the best gastronomic short story. The participation period that opens today will end on July 1, after which date no more originals will be admitted.

The text that is eligible for the Famila Torres Gastronomic Story Award must be unpublished, must have a title and can be written in any of the languages ??of the State. The length is a minimum of 5,000 characters and a maximum of 12,000. Applicants must once again comply with the participation instructions and accept the rules, which can now be consulted on the website. The story must be sent in PDF to the email address relatocorto.comer@lavanguardia.es.

Those who decide to participate under a pseudonym must send by postal mail an envelope with the author’s information and contact information, which will only be opened if their work is chosen as the winner, to the address of La Vanguardia (Diagonal, 477, floor 2 Barcelona 08036).

The name of the winner of the Familia Torres Gastronomic Story Award, which is worth 3,000 euros, will be announced during the annual La Vanguardia Comer Awards ceremony, on September 30. On Saturday of that same week, the story chosen as the winner by a jury of experts will be published in its entirety in the printed edition of the newspaper and on the web.

In previous editions, winners were the stories El cuchillo jamonero (2020), written by gastronome Inés Butrón, Un món perdut (2021), by journalist Maria Dolors Clotet (2022) and Una de romanos (2023), by librarian Manuel Ruiz from Luzuriaga.

In the Comer Awards, as in previous editions, different categories will be awarded whose statements play with the letters that make up the word COMER and in which only one category, the one that corresponds to the R for Story, is fixed.

At the annual party of the La Vanguardia gastronomy channel, a special award is given each year, which Karlos Arguiñano won last year and in 2022 it went to José Andrés.
