WhatsApp has added new privacy features, as confirmed by the same platform, owned by Meta, through a statement published on its official blog. These novelties, which represent a further step in improving privacy -which indicates that it is the “fundamental pillar” of the company’s strategy- are silencing calls from unknown numbers and the quick check of the options privacy.

The two functions are added to those already launched, such as blocking the conversations that each user wants to access them by means of a fingerprint, facial recognition or numeric code; sending temporary messages or blocking screenshots for single viewing.

Coinciding with this announcement, the WABetaInfo portal has revealed that the application will soon have available another of the features that has historically been most in demand by its users: the possibility of using multiple accounts through the same device.

In this way, those who have two mobiles -for example, personal and work- will be able to manage two different accounts from the same smartphone. Until now they had to duplicate contacts on both devices. Thanks to the fact that many smartphones incorporate dual SIM, the user can now use an account for each number without having to leave the application.

To activate the function of silencing calls from strangers, all you have to do is access the settings of the same application and select the privacy option. Several parameters will appear there, among which is “Calls. Silence calls from unknown numbers.

Once this option is accessed, a new screen will be displayed in which this function can be activated and deactivated by sliding the icon to the right or to the left, as preferred. It will be activated when the button is shown in green and deactivated when it is gray.

In this way, calls from numbers that are not saved in the contact list will be directly registered in the call list, in case they want to be reviewed later, and users will save having to answer them.

This new feature will help users configure the multiple privacy options offered by the platform. Within the same WhatsApp configuration, in the privacy option, an option called “start review” will appear.

In this process, an assistant will guide users in the checking process in which they will be able to see the privacy levels that the Meta application has added. These extra layers reinforce the security of customers in terms of calls, messages and personal information.

The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has explained on his social networks that the new features will be released gradually in all territories that use Meta. In addition, WhatsApp has launched a campaign to encourage the use of private messages.

“Is your friend quiet lately? A private message could help her open up,” says the campaign video. In this way, they want to encourage the use of the multiple privacy options that the company is implementing, with the aim of creating a safe space.
