In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we are going to explain today what the name Pedra Dreta was for in the municipality of Lluçà, in the region of Lluçanès.

It is an imposing monolith related to the old cattle road that passed through here. The Pedra Dreta served as an orientation for the transhumant herds.

Transhumance is a type of grazing consisting of the seasonal and long-distance movement of livestock between different geographical or climatic zones through established migratory routes.

The Right Stone is a large monolith of 2.23 meters high in a prismatic shape located in a barren area between fields, at the foot of the current BV-4341 road.

It marked and indicated the orientation of the ravine and the passage of the transhumant herds that in summer headed to the high pasture areas.

The Right Stone has a legend associated with it, according to which the medieval bridge that serves as a footbridge over the Merlès stream, between Sant Martí and Santa Maria, was built by the devil by removing the stones that were near the castle of Lluçà.
