Podemos denounced this Friday an alleged manipulation of the data from the latest barometer of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) with the purpose, according to this formation, of “modifying the vote estimate downwards” for United We Can.

According to sources from the political organization headed by the Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, the “alteration” has been detected in the study that was published on March 17, and that was carried out in the context of the controversy over the “incorrect application of the law of the only yes is yes by a minority of judges ”, according to the interpretation of Podemos.

In said CIS study, the PSOE not only survived the scandal of the Mediator case but also improved its vote expectation by six tenths, while the PP fell 1.8 percentage points and Unidas Podemos plummeted 2.7 and lost to Vox the third place after the controversy over the norm.

In the opinion of Podemos, this “alleged manipulation” of the data places the body chaired by the “socialist”, they remark, José Félix Tezanos in a “very serious” situation that is “unprecedented”. “With this kind of practice, a key public institution is called into question,” these sources add.

The general secretary of Podemos posted a message on the networks that, “if it is true that the CIS manipulated the UP March data to tell everyone about our ‘drop’ by law only if we are facing a very serious situation and without precedents in a key public institution” for which “we await all the explanations from Mr. Tezanos”, concludes Belarra.

The minister echoes a Twitter thread from a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Carlos Fernández Barbudo, who claims that the CIS “manipulated the March data on the intention to vote for United We Can” by making the “microdata” public. of the survey that, he assured, confirm that they “artificially reduced the coalition’s data.”

As explained by the professor, in March, the CIS stopped computing within the United We Can coalition the spontaneous responses of support for the Sumar project, which is led by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, and which still does not have a closed agreement with Podemos for under the same application.

The former Vice President of the Government and former Secretary General of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, also echoes the professor’s tweet thread because “what is explained here is very serious.”

“It is not the generic ‘Tezanos manipulates’ of the right, it is a detailed explanation of how a public institution (the CIS) is used to generate false news (obviously against Podemos and in favor of the PSOE)”, sentence Iglesias.

For all this, and given the “seriousness” of the facts, from Podemos they demand “as a first measure that Tezanos publicly and immediately offer all the pertinent explanations in this regard.”
