The Vox spokespersons in the Granada municipalities of La Zubia and Cenes de la Vega have denounced the mayoress of the first municipality, Purificación López, and the mayor of the second, Juan Ramón Castellón, before the Civil Guard for hanging the LGTBI flag from the town hall balcony for Pride Day.

Although Abascal’s formation does not govern in either of the two town halls, it wants the banners placed for the celebration of this international anniversary to be taken down.

The Vox representative in La Zubia, Lucía Cuadros, appeared at the Civil Guard offices to formalize a complaint against the PSOE mayoress, a statement in which she called the councilor “mayor” in a “clear example of her desire to make women and LGTBI groups invisible”, as the defendant pointed out in a statement.

The mayoress regretted that the Civil Guard had to intervene because the rainbow flag was displayed on the balcony of her office and stressed that the complaint is yet another example of Vox’s contempt for the LGTBI collective, “which it continually attacks with its gestures and His hatred”.

“This mayoress and this government team will do everything in their power to claim and condemn hate attacks, homophobic speeches and the setback in rights and freedoms within the most absolute legality”, the mayoress pointed out in her statement before the Civil Guard after the complaint.

López has insisted on the importance of giving visibility to the rainbow flag and has assured that they will maintain that line despite Vox’s attempts to intimidate them.

“On the contrary, we are going to raise it now more than ever, because this flag represents stories of love and dignity,” stressed the mayor, who has asked the local Vox spokeswoman to focus on working for the neighbors and not on spread hate

The same procedure has been followed by the Vox councilor in Cenes de la Vega, Juan Francisco Pérez, who formalized a complaint against the mayor, Juan Ramón Castellón, before the Civil Guard, for placing the rainbow flag.

The Cenes de la Vega City Council, as every year on the occasion of the International LGTBI Pride Day, placed the rainbow flag on the balcony last week to make visible the support and respect for the LGTBI collective and reject situations of discrimination and intolerance.

The mayor of this town, also in the metropolitan area of ??Granada, has highlighted the feeling of sadness and shame with which he has received this complaint.

“I cannot understand either the forms or the substance of this complaint, for me it is incomprehensible. We are not going to go back now or stop placing a symbol that is inclusive and that means showing our support and respect for LGTBI people,” Castellón has advanced. .
