The four Vox councilors in the Valencia City Council have decided to leave the plenary session this Wednesday after a scuffle with the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, with whom they form a government. The first mayor, from the PP, has refused to give the floor to the Vox spokesperson, Juanma Bademas, in a questioning by the socialist spokesperson, Sandra Gómez, who wanted to know the mayor’s position regarding the changes introduced by Vox on matters of active employment policies for women.
Badenas has tried to respond as a Councilor for Employment, but the mayor has decided that it was the municipal spokesperson, Juan Carlos Caballero, who would defend the Executive’s position. Badenas has insisted that he “had more information” about it as the person in charge of the area, but Catalá has denied him the word, alleging that it was an interpellation to the Mayor’s Office.
As a protest, the four Vox councilors have left the Chamber of the Provincial Council of Valencia – where plenary sessions are temporarily held for the works in the plenary session of the council. This has forced a break in the session.
Finally, after a pause of almost half an hour, the Vox councilors returned to the plenary hall to vote with their partners against an emergency motion presented by Compromís. Otherwise, the Government team would have lost the vote.
