The former bullfighter Vicente Barrera will be the new vice president of the Valencian executive that Carlos Mazón will preside over and will also be responsible for Culture, according to the agreement reached between the PP and Vox in the Valencian Community. In addition, Santiago Abascal’s party will manage two other ministers, which will be those of Agriculture and Justice, the latter portfolio that would also assume some competence in social matters.
In this agreement, Vox guarantees its support for the investiture. And both formations add that, “once the Popular Party candidate is sworn in, a government will be drawn up in which, at the proposal of Vox, the holders of a first vice presidency with the powers of the Department of Culture will be appointed, headed by Vicente Barrera Simó, from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Justice, Interior and Governance”.
As already announced, the PP and Vox will govern the Generalitat Valenciana together and, in exchange, the green party will have the vice-presidency of the Corts Valencianes and various parcels of executive power. But the key will be the definition of the policies and who manages the powers that have also been made public in a document with 50 government proposals in the following axes: freedom, economy, rural world, reduction of public spending, education and language, health , social policies and security.
Carlos Mazón announced yesterday that Health and Education were “key” ministries for the PP, which made it clear that these areas, with a strong social sensitivity, were not going to be in the hands of Vox. The new executive will have ten conselleries, including the president. According to this logic, the PP will have control of the strategic areas of Health, Education, Hisenda and it will be necessary to see if finally Social Welfare, another of the most sensitive areas of the administration, is also in the hands of Carlos Mazón.
