Some want to do less to the candidate Ramón Tamames and others want to do more. Vox’s motion of no confidence does not yet have a response strategy, what it already has is a schedule: Meritxel Batet, president of Congress, announced yesterday to the groups that the session on Tuesday the 21st will begin at 9 in the morning.

Last week the ERC proposed a joint operation of ninguneo, and yesterday the PSOE, which claims just the opposite, convinced that the main victim of the initiative of the extreme right is the PP, launched the idea that, in addition to President Pedro Sánchez , the three vice presidents, Nadia Calviño, Yolanda Díaz and Teresa Rivera, responded. The proposal has not been agreed upon or closed with the Government’s minority partner, so there is still no joint initiative. The Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, proposed yesterday that only women answer, given the “macho” nature of the far-right formation.

Nor among the investiture bloc groups, which, after Esquerra’s attempt to repeat what the PNV spokesman, Aitor Esteban, did in October 2020 – spend only two minutes of the thirty available to disdain Santiago’s candidacy Abascal– A strategy has still been decided.

Meanwhile, yesterday the parliamentary spokesman for Vox, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, had it in the press room of Congress to defend the alignment of Vox’s interests with those of its candidate, Ramón Tamames, after in various interviews condescendingly criticize the ideas of Vox and its conception of issues such as climate change or the Spanish territorial model. According to Espinosa de los Monteros, these dissents are not such, but the product of the malicious transcription made by the newspapers El País and El Mundo –he expressly quoted both, assuring that “nobody transcribes two hours of interview” (sic)– of the original words of Tamames, taking them out of context. Given the insistence of questions from the press, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros hinted that this apparent lack of harmony between Tamames and Vox’s ideas is not so serious for two reasons: because the motion of no confidence will lead to the leader of the party, Santiago Abascal, can speak without a time limit, and because, in any case, the only commitment that is required of Tamames once he has been voted as the new president of the Government is to immediately call general elections. He also assured that in Vox there is no “right wing” that opposes the motion of censure and the figure of Tamames.
